Art for truth's sake

A seemingly unlikely trio from the University of Alberta are taking on the misinformation filling up the space around the pandemic. Sean Caulfield is an artist. His brother Tim is the Research Director of the Health Law Institute. Sue Colberg is an Associate Professor of Design Studies.

Together they have started a new art and design project they hope will give people some pause for thought before they hit the retweet or share button. Too often the spread of misinformation is not willful but rather a case of not looking at the source material or having a ‘this is too good to true’ moment’.

Sean and Tim Caulfield have worked with Genome Alberta in the past so when we heard they were getting together to expand Tim's campaign to battle misinformation we thought we should give Sean a call to get the artist's perspective.
Freelance broadcaster Don Hill talked with Sean about bringing art to bear on misinformation.
